Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how the USAJobs mobile application ("App", "Service", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Service.

The App helps users search federal job listings, save jobs, save search filters, create job alerts, receive local notifications, and optionally sign in with Google to personalize and sync parts of the experience.

The App is not an official government application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by USAJOBS, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, or any federal agency.

Information You Choose to Store

The App stores information needed for app features to work. This may include saved jobs, saved searches, search history, filter selections, onboarding state, job alert preferences, saved job reminder preferences, notification settings, and related app state.

If you use guest mode, this information is generally stored on your device. If you sign in with Google, selected user activity such as saved jobs, job alerts, and search history may be synced with Firebase so you can continue across devices.

Google Sign-In and Firebase

If you choose to sign in with Google, the App uses Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication. Google and Firebase may provide access to basic account information associated with your Google account, such as your display name, email address, profile photo, and authentication identifiers needed to keep you signed in.

The App may use Firebase services, including Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Analytics, and Firebase Crashlytics, to support sign-in, sync, analytics, diagnostics, and crash reporting.

Job Search and Alerts

When you search for jobs, apply filters, open job details, or create alerts, the App sends related search parameters to USAJOBS data services so matching job listings can be returned. These parameters may include keywords, location text, agency or department selections, pay or grade filters, remote preferences, schedule filters, and similar search criteria.

Job alert schedules, alert filters, and newly detected alert matches may be stored locally on your device. Alert match snapshots are stored to help you view jobs that triggered a notification.

Permissions

Notifications: If you grant notification permission, the App can send job alert notifications, saved job reminders, and related local notifications to your device.

Approximate location: The App may request approximate location permission to support location-aware job discovery and related onboarding flows. We do not state that we collect precise GPS location through our own servers.

Internet: Internet access is used to retrieve job data, maps, ads, analytics, authentication, and cloud sync services.

Advertising and Google AdMob

The App may include advertising features through Google AdMob. Google and its partners may automatically collect information such as advertising ID, device identifiers, IP address, approximate location, device and operating system details, and ad interaction data to serve, measure, and improve ads.

Depending on your region and the App configuration, ads may be personalized or non-personalized, and you may be shown a consent message before ads are requested. For more information about how Google handles data, review Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

How We Use Information

• Retrieve and display job listings and job details from USAJOBS.
• Save your jobs, searches, filters, reminders, and job alert preferences.
• Sync selected saved activity across devices when you sign in.
• Create and deliver job alert notifications and saved job reminders.
• Show your Google profile information in the App when signed in.
• Measure app usage, improve reliability, and troubleshoot crashes.
• Support advertising, consent handling, ad measurement, and fraud prevention.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell your personal information.

The App relies on third-party services and public data providers that may process data under their own terms and privacy policies, including:

• USAJOBS data services, which provide the federal job information displayed in the App.
• Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication, if you choose to sign in.
• Cloud Firestore, Firebase Analytics, and Firebase Crashlytics.
• Google Maps, Google Play services, and device location services.
• Google AdMob and related Google advertising or consent tools, if ads are enabled.

Storage and Retention

Saved jobs, search history, filters, onboarding status, alert settings, notification settings, and related app state are stored until you remove them, clear app data, uninstall the App, or use available in-app controls.

If you sign in with Google, synced app data may remain associated with your Firebase user account until it is deleted or overwritten according to app functionality. Your authentication state is managed through Google and Firebase and may persist until you sign out.

Your Choices

• You can use guest mode instead of signing in.
• You can sign out to stop future account-based sync on that device.
• You can deny or revoke location and notification permissions in device settings.
• You can manage advertising consent choices where the App presents privacy options.
• You can clear saved jobs, alerts, and search history where those controls are available.

External Services and Official Sources

Federal job listings and related details shown in the App are sourced from USAJOBS data services. Official information and application actions should be verified through the official USAJOBS service: https://www.usajobs.gov/.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Security

We use commercially reasonable measures provided by the Android platform and the third-party services we rely on. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes and Contact

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date shown above. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
