Privacy Policy

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Restart Apps ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the NYC Government Job Tracker mobile application, also displayed in parts of the App as NYC Jobs (the "App" or "Service").

The App helps users search New York City government job listings, save jobs and searches, create local alerts and reminders, review hiring insights, and optionally sign in with Google or Apple to sync selected activity.

The App is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the City of New York or any City agency.

Information You Store and Account Information

The App stores information needed for its features, including saved jobs, saved searches, search history, filters, onboarding state, job alerts, reminders, alert matches, notification settings, and related app preferences. Guest data is generally stored on your device.

If you choose to sign in, the App uses Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple with Firebase Authentication. We may receive your display name, email address, profile photo where available, sign-in provider, and authentication identifiers. Selected app activity and settings may be synced to Firebase Cloud Firestore under your Firebase user ID.

Job Search, Location, and Notifications

Search terms and filters are sent to NYC Open Data so matching listings can be returned. The App may use mapping and geocoding services to display job locations.

Approximate location: If you choose current-location search and grant permission, the App uses your approximate device location to create a location query. We do not operate a server that stores your precise GPS location.

Notifications: If you grant permission, the App can send local job alerts, alert-match notices, and saved-job reminders to your device.

Analytics, Diagnostics, and Performance

The App uses Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Performance Monitoring to understand feature usage, diagnose crashes and errors, and improve reliability and performance. These services may process interaction events, app instance or installation identifiers, crash logs, diagnostic and performance data, device and operating-system information, IP address, and general region.

When you are signed in, the App may associate Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics records with your Firebase user ID. We do not intentionally send the text of your job-search keywords to Firebase Analytics.

Advertising and Consent

The free version may show ads through Google AdMob. Google and its partners may process the advertising ID, device identifiers, IP address, approximate location, device and operating system details, and ad interaction data to serve, measure, secure, and improve ads.

Depending on your region and choices, ads may be personalized or non-personalized. The App may show a consent message and privacy-options control before or after ads are requested. For more information, review Google's Privacy Policy.

Purchases and NYCJobs Pro

If you buy or restore the one-time NYCJobs Pro upgrade, Google Play or Apple's App Store processes the transaction. The App receives purchase and entitlement information needed to complete, verify, restore, and remember the upgrade. We do not receive your full payment-card details. A Pro entitlement flag is also stored on your device.

How We Use Information

• Retrieve and display job listings and hiring insights from NYC Open Data.
• Provide saved jobs, searches, alerts, reminders, maps, and optional cloud sync.
• Authenticate users and display available profile information.
• Measure usage, diagnose errors and crashes, and monitor performance.
• Serve ads, manage consent, measure ads, and prevent fraud.
• Complete and restore the NYCJobs Pro entitlement.
• Respond to support, privacy, and deletion requests.

Data Sharing and Service Providers

We do not sell your personal information.

The App relies on services that process data under their own terms and policies, including:

• NYC Open Data and official CityJobs pages.
• Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple, Firebase Authentication, and Cloud Firestore.
• Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Performance Monitoring.
• Google Maps, geocoding, device-location, and mobile-platform services.
• Google AdMob and Google User Messaging Platform.
• Google Play Billing, Apple StoreKit, and the applicable app store.

We require service providers that process data for us to handle it consistently with applicable law, their contractual obligations, and protections appropriate to their role.

Storage, Retention, and Deletion

Local app data remains until you remove it, clear app data, or uninstall the App. Signed-in sync data remains in Firebase until you remove it through the App or delete your account. Signing out stops future account-based sync on that device but does not delete existing cloud data.

You can delete your signed-in account from Settings. This removes the Firebase Authentication account and synced App data stored in Firestore. You can also review the account-deletion instructions or email restartapplication@gmail.com.

Analytics, advertising, diagnostic, performance, transaction, and app-store records are retained according to our configuration, operational needs, legal obligations, and each provider's retention practices. Account deletion does not erase purchase records maintained by Google Play or Apple.

Your Choices

• Use guest mode instead of signing in.
• Sign out to stop future account-based sync on that device.
• Deny or revoke notification and approximate-location permissions in device settings.
• Manage advertising consent through in-app privacy options where available.
• Remove saved content with in-app controls or delete your account from Settings.

Children's Privacy and Security

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We use commercially reasonable safeguards, but no method of transmission or electronic storage is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Verify listings, deadlines, eligibility, and application actions through official CityJobs. We may update this policy and will revise the effective date when we do.
